Colorado Elk Hunting – Tips to the Hunt
Colorado Elk Hunting is extremely popular. Colorado has the largest herd of Elk there is. Most of them are in the Northwest area of the state. If you are one of my Elk Hunting Guide followers that is reading this the day I post it – you know – Colorado Elk Hunting season opens in 1 WEEK! This, of course, will be Elk Archery Season. Unlimited Archery for the 2009 season is Aug. 29 – Sept. 27, Muzzleloading Season Sept. 12 – 20, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Rifle Seasons Oct. 10 – Nov. 15.
I hope you have all your ducks in a row! I know we’re talking Elk – but there are details to take care of. You can still buy some Elk licenses – even this close to the opening of season. The cut off is midnight the day before the season opens – for unlimited licenses. Typically, Archery season, and 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons are unlimited. You can visit the Colorado Division of Wildlife for all the details.
If you’ve put off planning your Colorado Elk Hunt, you might want to consider using an Elk Outfitter. They are usually very good at helping you get everything set up to go on an Elk Hunt. Budget permitting, you can choose a full service guided hunt package that will include the works. Each outfitter is different, so check the included services carefully when choosing and comparing.
